A very nerdy rant.

The good news is that Guillermo Del Toro (of Pan's Labyrinth fame) will be directing a 2-part The Hobbit! Hot damn!

The bad news is that I really don't think Ian Holm will be playing Bilbo, the central character. Granted, Bilbo is supposed to be 50 years old in The Hobbit (as opposed to 111, as in The Fellowship of the Ring), but he did play himself as a 50 year-old man in a flashback in FOTR. They had to tape his facial skin back and airbrush him into oblivion, but they made it work.

Now, I've just re-read The Hobbit, all the while picturing a younger Ian Holm. And when I watch some totally new person play Bilbo alongside the same Gandalf (oh yes, Ian McKellen will be reprising) its going to ruin it for me. Utterly ruin it.

Lets just hope they give ol' Ian a face-lift and have done with it.

Ah the Hobbit. I must revisit that soon. I can remember just "being" in the book to such a degree that the real world seemed sorta "blah". Of course the book that really messed with my "living in the now" was "Clan of the Cave Bear". Yeah, snicker all you want, it is still a complete mind boggle. There, I said it...
The rest of the series blew chunks, just so you know.
Oh and I'm currently reading "Wicked"... I can't say if it's drivel or genius quite yet, I'm just over half way through it. But the big question is, how the cheese could this be a musical? The club scene alone... Yeeeeshhh.

I have never read The Hobbit. I'm lame, I know. I don't usually get into the whole fantasy genre. As close as I've ever gotten to liking that is Harry Potter. I have no imagination, so it helps that I've seen the movies becauase I can actually picture the characters and the scene. I look forward to the movie though!
